Almost every specification decision follows from one answer, and it is the thing a contractor cannot tell you.

Is this floor looked at or worked on?

A garage that opens into your kitchen gets judged as a room, and that is what metallic was made for. A garage with a lift, racking and a parts washer in it is a working floor, and the pattern is money spent on something nobody sees.

Which is why flake is what we put down more often than everything else combined. It suits a floor that is used and still gets looked at.

Your slab has a vote too

If your concrete is patched, stained and uneven in colour, full flake coverage puts a new surface over all of it. A smoother system follows the shape of what is underneath.

What Flake Actually Does for a Garage

It fixes the three things that make a garage floor look tired, and it does them at our base rate.

It hides the slab underneath

We broadcast chip to full coverage, which means until your floor will not take any more. That gives you a new surface rather than a thin colour showing every patch.

It has grip built in

The chip edges break up the surface, so your floor is not slick when a car brings rain in. If it slopes to the door we put more grit into the top coat.

It does not show every mark

The single biggest complaint we hear about solid colour garage floors. A blend absorbs normal use visually in a way a flat colour cannot.

And we can repair it invisibly

A chip repair on a flake floor effectively disappears, because the pattern hides the join. That is not true of a plain colour, and it is not true of metallic either.

What Metallic Gives You, and What It Asks

It is the system people photograph, and it is not the right answer everywhere.

No two floors come out the same

We move the pigment through clear resin while it is still wet, so your pattern is made by the pour rather than chosen from a sample. Two floors poured the same day from the same tins do not match, and that is the point of choosing it.

Your base coat is half the result

Black gives depth and contrast, a mid grey gives something softer and more marble-like. We choose it with you rather than assuming, because it changes the finished floor completely.

It shows dust more than flake

A smooth, dark, glossy surface shows footprints the way your gloss worktop does. In a garage that gets used hard, you will notice.

It costs more because of the handwork

We work it by hand while the resin is moving, so it costs more in time as well as material. Our rate for it is on the cost page.

The Thing Both of Them Need

Whichever you pick, the same two decisions sit underneath it, and they matter more than the finish does.

Your slab has to be ground

Both systems fail the same way over unprepared concrete. Etching and washing are not a substitute for the grinding we do.

Daylight decides your top coat

Clear epoxy ambers where sun lands on it directly. If your garage has glass in the door or gets left open all summer, we put a UV-stable top coat on it, or your floor ends up two colours where the light falls.
