What decides the price of an epoxy floor
Two of the three you can check yourself before you speak to anybody, which is the fastest way to tell a real quote from a guess.
How big the floor is
The rate per square foot falls as the floor grows, because mobilisation, grinding setup, mixing and cure time barely change between a one-car garage and a warehouse bay. Spread across more feet, the fixed part of the job gets cheaper per foot. Measure length times width and you have the number every quote is built on.
Which system it needs
Solid colour is the plainest and the quickest to lay. Flake and quartz build up from there. Metallic is worked by hand while the resin is still moving, so it costs more in time as well as material, and that handwork is why no two come out the same.
What the slab is doing
This is the line that moves between two floors of the same size, and the one nobody can read from a photograph. Cracks need cutting and filling. Old coating has to come off. A slab passing moisture upward needs that dealt with before any resin goes down.
Small floors carry a setup cost either way
Setup is much the same whatever the size, so on a small floor or a countertop a flat job figure applies rather than a square foot rate. Brad will tell you which one you are in when he quotes.
What is included in the price
Diamond grinding the slab back to bare concrete, the primer, the system itself and the top coat. Slab condition is the one line that moves between two floors of the same size, which is why Brad looks at yours before he puts a number on it.
Getting the slab sound first
We cut and fill your cracks, patch the pitting and spalling, and take off any old coating so the new system bonds to bare concrete. A slab that has been painted or sealed before takes us longer to get back, and Brad prices that once he has seen it.
A free moisture test before you spend anything
A slab passing moisture upward will lift a coating off it. The test costs nothing, takes a day, and running it before you take any quote puts you ahead of the one problem people usually find out about afterwards.

It depends on what they left out, and what gets left out is almost always the preparation.
What a low bid usually skips
Grinding is the slow, dusty part and you cannot see it once your floor is down. A quote well under the others is usually a quote for less prep, and prep decides whether your floor is still bonded in five years.
The kit on the shelf
A DIY kit is a thin coating rolled onto a slab that has been acid etched rather than ground. It is a real option for a floor you do not mind redoing. It is not the same product as a ground and coated system.
Four questions for any contractor
How will the slab be prepared, what happens if it tests wet, how thick is the system, and what is the top coat. The answers tell you more than the price does, and a contractor who answers all four is describing a floor rather than a number.
Working Out Your Own Floor Before You Call Anybody
Five minutes with a tape measure puts you ahead of most people who ring us, and it makes the number you get back the number you pay.
Measure it properly
Length times width, in feet, of the area actually being coated. Leave out anything permanently in the way. A single garage is usually around 12 by 22, a two-car around 20 by 22, and a basement is whatever the slab is.
Decide the system before you decide the budget
Solid colour, flake, quartz or metallic changes the number more than a few square feet either way. Look at the gallery and pick what you actually want rather than what you think you can afford.
Look at your slab in daylight
Cracks, pitting, old coating, dark patches that never dry. Those are the things that move a quote, and knowing them before the visit means the number you get is the number you pay.
Ask for it in writing
Preparation, any repair, the system by layer, and your cure dates. A quote that is one number with no breakdown cannot be compared with anything.

Comparing Quotes Without a Price List
Four quotes for the same garage can differ by a lot and all be honest, because they are not quoting the same floor. This is how to tell which is which.
What a much lower number usually means
Less preparation. Grinding is the slow, expensive part you never see, and it is the first thing taken out to win on price.
What a much higher number can mean
A thicker system, moisture mitigation, or a specification your floor genuinely needs. Higher is not automatically worse, and whoever quoted it should be able to explain it to you line by line.
The comparison that matters
Not price against price, but what each quote includes. Ask all of us four questions: preparation method, moisture plan, system thickness, top coat. A contractor who answers all four clearly is describing a floor; one who answers none is describing a price.
Why nobody should quote you over the phone
The slab is the part that moves the number and it cannot be read down a telephone. A firm price before anybody has seen it is either padded to be safe or about to change.
